Step 1: Paint something and move a few things

Step one of the big "making the house a home" plan is done. Yesterday, we moved a few pieces of big, heavy furniture and painted the TV armoire. The color was stolen borrowed straight from The Nester's armoire. I am not normally one to steal borrow directly from someone, but I absolutely love this color. In fact, I love it so much, I may just use it in the kitchen (more on that later.) Maybe some day I will learn to take better pictures, but until then, here it is:

The color is Sherwin Williams Halcyon Green 6213. I was going to use Sherwin Williams paint, but when I went to have it mixed they insisted that I needed to use oil based primer and paint, and that latex wouldn't work, blah, blah, blah. If there is one thing I can't stand it is people who tell me I can't do something - especially when I have already done it. I understand that it is their job to tell me the best way to do a project, but it is also their job to not argue with me and just sell me the paint I want. I have painted many a piece of furniture in my life and have never used oil based paint.

Anyway...

Now that the two hutches in my living room - yes, two hutches - have been swapped, it really changes the feel of the room. That right there would have been a big improvement, but we decided to paint the armoire and some swatches on the wall to try some colors out for a bit.

I have also started amassing things for our surprise that I wish I could tell you about but can't. I can"t wait to show you what we do!

Tomorrow, we are moving a few boys rooms around and getting them ready for Alex and Ethan to come home. If I had time (and didn't have a stupid bruised tail bone that I managed to reinjure) I would paint it and decorate a little, but for now cleaning and rearranging will have to do.

By the way... if you have never checked out The Nester, hop on over there and have a look. Anyone who preaches "It doesn"t have to be beautiful to be perfect" is good in my book!
